The College of Arts and Sciences is composed of 14 academic departments, two programs, and the School of Southeastern American Indian Studies. It offers a variety of undergraduate degrees, including the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Music. Students interested in any of these programs should consult the department descriptions in this section of the catalog.

In collaboration with the Graduate School, master’s degrees, including the Master of Public Administration with concentrations in Criminal Justice, General Public Administration, and Emergency Management, and a Master of Arts in English Education, Mathematics Education, Science Education, or Social Studies Education are available. We also support programs in the Master of Arts in Teaching in collaboration with the School of Education. Students interested in any of graduate programs should consult The William Howard Dean Graduate School  section of the catalog.

STEM Degree Programs that Lead to Health Professions

The Department of Biology and the Department of Chemistry and Physics provide curricula that meet the requirements for admission into most schools of medicine, dentistry, veterinary science, and medical technology. In addition, students wishing to pursue a degree in a variety of other health related professions such as pharmacy, optometry, physical therapy, etc., can obtain the required college preparation at UNC Pembroke prior to matriculation into the appropriate professional school. In each case, admission to the professional school is competitive, and completion of the prescribed curriculum at UNCP does not guarantee such admission. Because entrance requirements vary with the profession and with individual schools, it is the responsibility of the student to be familiar with the requirements of the specific school to which he or she plans to apply. Advice or assistance can be obtained from the Health Careers Pre-Health Advisor, or from many biology and chemistry faculty members.
